Clacton-on-Sea - 5 miles

Clacton Pier

Clacton Pier first opened on 1877 and is now a family run pleasure pier which has 19 rides on.  At the end of the pier is the Jolly Roger restaurant, and two takeaways.  There are also numerous gift shops and why not get some Clacton-on-Sea rock, or visit the bar or tea room.

Brightlingsea - 10 miles

Brightlingsea

Part of the Essex Sunshine Coast, Brightlingsea is an attractive seaside town just a short drive from Orchards. The town is rich in seafaring history and is still a haven for yachting, hosting annual international sailing events. Take a stroll along the Western Promenade with its lines of beach huts running alongside the Blue Flag beach and join the nature trail along the site of an old railway line to Alresford Creek.


 

Historic Colchester - 14 miles

Once Britain’s Roman capital, Colchester is today one of the country’s most vibrant towns. Visit this cosmopolitan university town with its great shopping stylish street cafés, galleries and bookshops. Take in the magnificent castle and its fascinating museum and live bands in the glorious Castle Park on Sunday afternoons throughout the summer.

Sun, sea and sand are right here! How many Caravan Parks are next to the only South East Coast beach to be awarded Yellow Flag Status and Best Beach in East Anglia? There’s the 7-mile promenade, the Victorian pier and plenty of holiday buzz to suit everyone.

Colchester Zoo - 19 miles

Colchester Zoo in Essex, has some of the best big cat and primate collections in Europe and houses over 260 rare species of animal. A great family day out!

Dedham Vale - 20 miles

Discover the English rural scenery - this area of outstanding natural beauty is on the Essex-Suffolk border, situated on the River Stour. It is part of the area known since the artist’s lifetime as Constable Country, as it was made famous by the paintings of John Constable. There are many things to see and do in Constable Country from Flatford Mill, Bridge Cottage, Willy Lott’s Cottage and Dedham.

Walton-on-the-Naze - 12 miles

With the country’s second-longest pier, complete with train and seafront leisure centre, Walton-on-the-Naze is always a big favourite with children. A walk along the seafront reveals the unspoilt headland The Naze, whose sandy beaches and salt marshes are backed by high cliffs.
