It is part of the area known since the artist’s lifetime as Constable Country, as it was made famous by the paintings of John Constable. With the country’s second-longest pier, complete with train and seafront leisure centre, Walton-on-the-Naze is always a big favourite with children. A walk along the seafront reveals the unspoilt headland The Naze, whose sandy beaches and salt marshes are backed by high cliffs.
